Dr. Varuni Rao

Welcome to Dr. Varuni Rao, Rheumatologist and Director of North Texas Institute of Rheumatology!

We are proud to announce the addition of Varuni Rao, DO, to our team of providers. Dr. Rao will be the first rheumatologist to join our group, and she joins us as our Director of Rheumatology, spearheading the development of our newest sub-center: North Texas Institute of Rheumatology!

Dr. Rao is a rheumatologist who specializes in the management of various autoimmune disorders, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease-associated arthritis, Crystal induced arthropathies – Gout and Pseudogout, Lupus, Myositis, and other musculoskeletal disorders.

Varuni Rao, DO, graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. Her internship and residency in Internal Medicine were completed at New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York where she was named Chief Resident and awarded Best Resident in Ambulatory Clinic/Continuity of Care.

She completed her fellowship in Rheumatology at New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center, New York, and is board certified in Rheumatology.
